Install, Uninstall, or Update Acrolinx for Office Online

What You Should Know Before Installing

Before you install Acrolinx for Office Online, make sure that you’ve installed the following:

The Acrolinx add-in isn’t yet publicly available from Microsoft AppSource. An Office Online admin can install Acrolinx for Office Online via centralized deployment.

Installing Office add-ins using centralized deployment requires Office ProPlus 2016 and Microsoft Exchange Server, for example as part of an Office 365 Business Premium subscription. You can find more info about about centralized deployment of add-ins in this article by Microsoft.

Install Using Centralized Deployment

Add-ins deployed from the admin center are available to users in their Office applications right away.

To install Acrolinx for Office Online, you'll need to upload the manifest file to the admin center (either URL or file). To do this, follow the detailed steps in the Microsoft documentation.

The URL for Acrolinx for Office Online is https://updates.acrolinx.com/sidebar/office365/manifest.xml

Update Using Centralized Deployment

To update Acrolinx for Office Online, you'll need to deploy the new manifest URL (this could be same as the older manifest URL) and click OK.

Uninstall Using Centralized Deployment

To uninstall Acrolinx for Office Online, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Office Online admin account.
  2. Select the app launcher icon and choose Admin.
  3. In the navigation menu, select Settings > Services & Add-ins.
  4. Click ... > Remove
