Configure Email to Send Scorecard Issues

If you use the Acrolinx Scorecard a lot, you might have noticed that there's a menu icon next to each issue. If you click this icon, you'll get the option send the issue details in an e-mail. This link opens your default e-mail program and creates a draft e-mail with the issue details.

By default, the "to:" field is empty. But it doesn't have to be that way. If you have access to the file system on your Acrolinx server, you can configure a default e-mail address for these e-mails. Here's how you do it:

  1. Find the following file and copy it to the corresponding location in your configuration directory.

    For example, your installation directory might look like this:

    C:\Program Files\Acrolinx\server\www\xsl\feedback.xml

    You would copy it to the following location:

    If you've kept the default location for your configuration directory, the final location probably looks like this:

    You might need to create the www directory first.

  2. Edit the following line and add an e-mail address.

    If you exclude the comments, the final contents of feedback.xml should look something like this:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    You can see the results immediately if you refresh the Scorecard in your browser. When you click the link again, the "To:" field should contain the e-mail address that you configured.

    If it doesn't work the first time, try a "hard refresh", which is usually CTRL + F5 in most browsers. You can also try clearing your browser cache.
