Install, Uninstall, or Update Acrolinx for Adobe Experience Manager

You'll need Adobe Experience Manager administrator rights to install Acrolinx for AEM.

What You Should Know Before Installing

Before you install Acrolinx for Adobe Experience Manager, make sure that you've installed the following:

Install

First, make sure you've installed everything you need - see the section What You Should Know Before Installing above.

Also, check the admin guide for technical steps that you'll need to take to use Acrolinx for AEM. For example, enabling single sign-on, and configuring the connection to Acrolinx.

Updating Acrolinx for AEM requires some extra steps. See the section Update below.

To install Acrolinx for AEM, you'll need to upload and install the Acrolinx installation package in the Adobe CRX Package Manager.

To upload and install Acrolinx for AEM, follow these steps:

  1. Download the latest version of the Acrolinx for AEM .zip file from your company download area.
  2. In AEM, go to Tools > CRXDE Lite to open CRXDE Lite.
  3. Click Package to open the CRX Package Manager.
  4. Click Upload Package.
  5. In the Upload Package dialog box, select the Acrolinx for AEM .zip file and click OK.
  6. After the file has uploaded, click Install.
  7. When the installation is complete, you're ready to connect to Acrolinx.

Update

You don't have to remove the previous version of Acrolinx for AEM before installing a newer version. You can upload and reinstall the new package over the top of the old one.

To update Acrolinx for AEM, follow these steps:

  1. Download the latest version of the Acrolinx for AEM .zip file from your company download area.
  2. Create a backup of the following files:

    apps/acrolinxsidebar/authoring/layer/sidebar/common/config.json

    apps/acrolinxsidebar/authoring/layer/sidebar/common/CustomComponents.json

    These files contain individual customizations and are overwritten during the update.

  3. In AEM, go to Tools > CRXDE Lite to open CRXDE Lite.
  4. Click Package to open the CRX Package Manager.
  5. Click Upload Package.
  6. In the Upload Package dialog box, select the Acrolinx for AEM .zip file, select Force Overwrite and click OK.
  7. After the package has uploaded, click Reinstall.
  8. Restore your backup of the config.json and CustomComponents.json files.

Uninstall

To uninstall or deactivate Acrolinx for AEM follow these steps:

  1. In AEM, go to Tools > CRXDE Lite to open CRXDE Lite.
  2. Click Package to open the CRX Package Manager.
  3. Find the Acrolinx for AEM package, and click More to open a dropdown menu.
  4. Click Uninstall and confirm.
